Calcite ointment vase and lid. Vase has flat base, ledged rim, cylindrical body and concave neck. Traces of ointment are visible inside. On the body of the vase there is an inscription in incised hieroglyphs, originally filled with blue paint (2 columns topped with pt-sign):

"Good Goddess Maat-ka-Ra, may she live, beloved of Amun-Ra, Lord of the Throne of Two Lands (1. nṯr.t nfr (.t) Mȝʿ.t-kȝ-Rʿ ʿnḫ.tj 2. mrjj.t Jmn-Rʿ nb nst tȝ.wj)".

 

Excavated by the H.E. Winlock (Metropolitan Museum of Art) in the temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari in 1923-1924. Gained by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1925 in the division of finds (Rogers Fund).
